The aim of this talk is to provide useful intel to create emotionally engaging climate communication with a rhetoric that is not apocalyptic.

The format is a 60-minute lecture by the speaker Arianna Cecchetto followed by a final Q&A section.

The target audience are people working in sustainability, as well as comedian and activists, but also citizens intending to spread environmental awareness in their everyday life.

The thematic focus (as well as a more accurate description of the contents) is the following:

2025 marked the tenth anniversary of the signing of the Paris Agreement, the treaty that brought together 194 states with the goal of collectively tackling climate change. Despite its ambitious premises and the widespread approval of sustainability norms across society between 2018 and 2022, in the European Union and the United States the push towards a green transition is now slackening. A rhetoric of warmongering and defense measures has overtaken political agendas on both sides of the Atlantic.

A good reason to cry at the faults of past climate efforts, one could say. But what if we decided instead to shift strategy and laugh about it?

The presentation introduces humor in this equation, and showcases how it can contribute to environmental and climate communication even in these dire times.
