Last summer, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHGP) signed an agreement to develop common dual-logo standards for the GHG quantification of products, organizations, and projects.
This important development will be discussed in a dedicated event featuring key leaders directly involved in the project: Amir Safaei, Daniele Pernigotti and Romain Poivet.
Romain Poivet: graduate of INSA engineering school with expertise in industrial and environmental risk management, currently serves as CEO and co-founding partner of Acute Investor Services. He launched his career in 2006 as a consultant specializing in industrial risk and carbon footprint. Romain then spent thirteen years at ADEME, the French State Agency for Environment, where he played a key role in creating methodologies, setting international standards, and shaping public policies around organizational carbon footprints. From 2015 to 2022, he co-created and led the ACT (Accelerate Climate Transition) initiative. After this, he served as Head of Climate Engagement for the NGO World Benchmarking Alliance from October 2022 to November 2025.
Amir Safaei: Amir is the project lead in coordinating technical and institutional collaboration between GHG Protocol and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). He also serves as the co-convener of the joint working Group on the product-level GHG accounting standard. In this role, he works closely with ISO and GHG Protocol leadership to guide the multi-stakeholder development process, ensure alignment with existing standards portfolios, and support transparent, consensus‑based decision-making in the development of a globally harmonized product carbon footprint standard. Amir served as part of the team developing the Land Sector and Removals Standard and the accompanying Guidance. Prior to joining GHG Protocol and World Business Council for Sustainable Development, Amir led the Sustainable Recycle Industries Program component A, where he coordinated an international coalition to collect and provide several regions (Asia, Latin America, Africa, Europe) with the capacity and data pools required for environmental reporting including GHG reporting at national and corporate levels. Amir holds an MBA from the university of Glasgow and Ph.D. in Sustainable Energy systems from the university of Coimbra in Portugal and Massachusetts institute of Technology in USA.

As the Italian delegate at ISO level, he contributed to the development of all GHG standards related to MRVA and serves as co-convenor of the ISO-GHGP Joint Working Group developing the future dual-logo standard on the carbon footprint of products. Daniele also chairs the European Technical Committee for Standardization on Climate Change (CEN/TC 467). He was selected by the European Commission as an Independent Reviewer for the PEF/OEF pilot project and was a member of the EA European working group responsible for drafting the European guidelines on monitoring greenhouse gas emissions under the ETS scheme. He has extensive experience in the accreditation sector, having served as Lead Assessor for GHG schemes for several National Accreditation Bodies, including Accredia (Italy), ANAB (US), RvA (the Netherlands), and ONAC (Colombia), as well as Peer Evaluator for the European co-operation for Accreditation (EA).
