About

In 2026, the first edition of Padova Climate Action Week will take place.

Inspired by the success of London Climate Action Week, which has been an international benchmark since 2019, the event’s mission is clear: to unite a diverse network of stakeholders to foster constructive dialogue and accelerate collective action on climate change. The action is rooted in the firm belief that an effective response can only arise from shared values and solutions, driven by principles of climate and social justice.

The event aims to demonstrate that the climate transition requires the involvement of everyone. Only by mobilizing society as a whole can we achieve concrete decarbonization goals and build a stronger, more resilient community in the face of future challenges.

Themes covered

Cities and Adaptation

Cities play a central role in addressing climate change. While they bear much of the impact of environmental crises, they also offer a unique opportunity for action and transformation. In addition to these challenges, cities face issues such as rapid urbanization and growing vulnerability, making the need for urban adaptation and resilience even more pressing.

In this context, Padova 2030 is key to driving the shift toward more sustainable and resilient urban models.

This theme delves into the complexities of climate change adaptation in cities, exploring the challenges, solutions, innovations, and initiatives that emerge from urban environments. It raises the question: how can we protect the heart of community life while fostering thriving ecosystems?

Sustainable Mobility and Transport

Transportation is one of the most critical sectors in the fight against climate change, with its impact growing at an alarming rate.

Sustainable mobility is thus essential to reducing carbon emissions and minimizing environmental harm. While policy decisions and investments in infrastructure and public transport are crucial, individual choices also play a key role in driving the climate transition.

This theme examines how rising demand for transportation affects the environment and underscores the pressing need for sustainable alternatives. It will feature discussions and activities on the policy frameworks, infrastructure investments, and personal behaviors that shape mobility’s future and advance broader climate action.

Energy and Industrial Decarbonization

Companies are tasked with reducing emissions from their operations, and decarbonization solutions are essential in this context.

This theme will explore the opportunities offered by renewable energy production, a key driver for reducing environmental impact and supporting sustainable growth. Another focus will be energy democracy, ensuring equitable and decentralized access to energy resources for a more inclusive energy system.

Activities will explore how businesses can adopt innovative solutions to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon future, highlighting their role in building resilient, vibrant urban ecosystems. Being part of this ecosystem means contributing to its growth and resilience, rather than detracting from it.

The Role of Civil Society

Civil society plays a crucial role in the fight against climate change, contributing at both local and global levels through associations, think tanks, and collectives. It has a dual role: raising awareness among citizens on climate issues and applying pressure on public policies to promote concrete actions against the environmental crisis.

In this context, the goal is to share the most interesting and promising actions, including those showing early encouraging results. Activities under this theme will focus on experiences and initiatives that are positively contributing to cultural change and climate policies.
