Presentation Evening with Discussion and Exhibition
“Personal Experiences Before Climate Justice Courts: Voices from Science, Law, Art, and Journalism”
Context
During the evening, the project “PersoNa – Personal Narratives in Climate Litigation”, funded by the Fondo Italiano, will be presented. The project explores what judges can learn about climate change by listening to people who are directly affected by its impacts.
Through a multi-voiced reflection, the event will discuss how this knowledge is entering strategic climate litigation through personal narratives, and will examine the effects that stories of lived climate impacts can have in these cases.
Format (2 hours total, 18:30–20:30)
Target audience
General public, young people, activists, artists, journalists, and researchers.
English translation support will be available.
Anna Berti Suman is a Tenure-Track Researcher (RTT) in Environmental and Territorial Sociology and Environmental Law at the University of Padua. Her research sits at the intersection of environmental socio-legal studies and civic participation in science, exploring how ordinary people respond to climate and environmental stressors through the collection of evidence, and how such evidence is mobilized across different spaces.
In 2025, she received a €1.3 million competitive grant from the Fondo Italiano per la Scienza for the project “PersoNa – Personal Narratives in Climate Litigation.”
She is also a member of EuCliPa.IT, an association created by ambassadors of the European Climate Pact appointed by the European Commission together with other volunteers.
